When to Visit Bellevue Farmstay
Every season at Bellevue offers something different — from baby animals to crisp winter mornings, long summer evenings, and everything in between.
Many guests ask us when the “best” time to visit is. The answer depends on what kind of experience you’re hoping to have as a family.
Below is a simple guide to help you choose what suits you best.
🐑 For Baby Animals & Farm Activity
Best time: July to September (lambing season)
Also: Calves from April to December
If your children are excited about baby animals, winter into early spring is a special time to visit. During these months, there may be opportunities to see or assist with feeding young lambs and calves (seasonal and not guaranteed).
This is often a favourite time for families wanting a hands-on farm experience.
🌿 For Mild Weather & Outdoor Exploring
Best time: Spring (Sept–Nov) & Autumn (Mar–May)
These seasons offer comfortable temperatures and are ideal for enjoying both the farm and nearby coastal drives. Days are relaxed, with plenty of opportunity to explore local towns, artisan food stops, and scenic routes.
☀️ For Long Days & Relaxed Evenings
Best time: Summer (Dec–Feb)
Summer brings longer daylight hours, warm evenings, and more time outdoors. Families often enjoy slow dinners, BBQs, and extended time together as the sun sets over the farm.
🔥 For Cosy, Quiet Farm Time
Best time: Winter (June–Aug)
Winter offers a quieter, more intimate experience. Guests enjoy wood fires, crisp air, and peaceful surroundings. It’s also when lambing season begins, bringing new life to the farm.
